Just to give you a taster of the range of events on the go...

Barra Live: Barra's annual music festival with musicians from all over the country performing. Takes place in early July.

Uist and Barra Piping Competition: annual event held in the southern isles. Takes place mid July.

Feis Bharraigh: a week long festival of traditional music and dance on the Isle of Barra. Takes place end of July.

Hogmanay: From great all-night ceilidhs, to hiring a house for your friends and family, or a romantic retreat to a remote Hebridean cottage, the islands really know how to bring in a good new year! (31st December every year!).

Fèis nan Oran: traditional music festival at Taigh Dhonnchaidh in Ness on the Isle of Lewis, takes place end of August , www.taighdhonnchaidh.com

Remember Remember the fifth of November - as it used to be? Escape the traffic jams and crowds of mainland celebrations, and make your way to the islands to see little bonfires dotted in almost every village. Fantastic community bonfire parties that welcome visitors. Around 5th November every year.
